Overview
Salesforce's Setup Audit Trail generates a large volume of data — making it difficult to catch the changes that actually matter. Arovy's Setup Audit Trail monitors let you cut through the noise by creating targeted alerts for specific events, severity levels, and activity classifications, so your team is notified only when something significant happens.
Applies to: Arovy Monitors & Logs | Feature: Setup Audit Trail Monitors
Prerequisites
- Arovy account with access to Monitors & Logs
- At least one Arovy user to assign as a notification recipient
- Familiarity with the types of Salesforce changes you want to track (e.g., admin additions, profile updates)
Estimated Time
~3 minutes per monitor
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Navigate to Setup Audit Trail
- In the left navigation bar, go to Monitors & Logs and select Setup Audit Trail.
Step 2: Open the Monitor Wizard
Click Create Monitor in the top-right corner.
The monitor wizard opens with a set of pre-built templates to help you get started quickly.
- Review the available templates. Examples include:
- New System Admin Added — alerts when a user is granted system administrator privileges
- Critical Arovy Alerts — alerts when Arovy flags a critical event in Setup Audit Trail
Step 3: Select a Template and Configure Conditions
- Select the template that best matches what you want to monitor. This example starts with Critical Alerts.
To make the monitor more specific, add additional conditions using the condition builder:
- Classification — expand coverage by adding severity levels, such as both Critical and High
- User — narrow the monitor to a specific person
Stack conditions to build a focused, high-signal alert that fits your governance needs.
Step 4: Set Notification Recipients and Save
- In the Notify field, select the Arovy user(s) who should receive email alerts when this monitor triggers.
Click Save.
The monitor is now active and will send email alerts whenever the specified conditions are met in your Setup Audit Trail.
Expected Results
After saving a monitor:
- Arovy watches your Setup Audit Trail continuously for activity matching your defined conditions
- Email alerts are sent to specified recipients when a match is detected
- The monitor filters out unrelated audit trail noise, surfacing only the events you've defined as important
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Setup Audit Trail not visible in left navigation | Event Monitoring or audit trail access not enabled | Contact your Arovy admin to confirm the feature is active on your account |
| Create Monitor button not visible | Insufficient permissions | Ask your Arovy workspace admin to grant monitor creation access |
| Monitor triggering too frequently | Conditions are too broad | Add more specific classification or severity conditions to narrow the scope |
| Monitor not triggering for known events | Conditions are too narrow or misconfigured | Review the condition settings and confirm the severity and classification values match the events you want to catch |
| Alert emails not being received | Recipient not saved, or emails filtered to spam | Re-open the monitor to confirm the recipient is set; ask recipients to allowlist Arovy's notification email domain |
